You have hit the six penny nail on the proverbial two dollar a head minimum. We're talking cable companies here, people! Send me a postcard if you've ever had anything remotely resembling "good service" from a cable TV company and I'll drop it in the mail to Ed McMahon and maybe you'll win the star search sweepstakes. These cable guys have over promised, over charged, and under delivered since the beginning of their wretched industry. Jeez, think I'll stay home 30 hours next week and hope the suckers show up so I can watch "Match Game '78" after a hard day at the office. What - you want a high speed internet connection? Let me get back to scheduling and I'm sure by the second quarter of next year we can hook you right up.

The AOL broadband issue has been priced into the stock three times over. They could announce a deal tomorrow and it would be two years until the cable guy comes to your house to hook it up.

By the way, I'm considering an offer to be Ned Beatty's campaign manager when he decides to run for prez. I think I got that message right.

OK, I agree, I wasn't clear in my point.

Yes, cable rollout is a snail. General content is not. Excite which might have been in the middle of their hypergrowth phase was stunted when purchased by athm, so that was the end of them. Meanwhile yahoo and aol have moved ahead, content is very sticky.

My point was that no matter what Cox wants in the content area, it is too late now. And then theres an additional huge problem of wrestling with a BOD that is not consistently focused on the same plan.

I consider athm to be another example of leadership by committee, fwiw.
