Greg, Skeeter, thread....actually, we should know the answers to these questions (and get a good reading for the next several weeks re: Dell's stock price) very, very shortly....Dell meeting with the analysts (middle of next week) is going to clear up a lot of questions about this quarter..and give good guidance for the rest of the year....

Skeeter, re: DRAM prices....You failed to mention that Dell held their CC about Q2 (with guidance on Q3) during the 3rd week this past August (18th?)...At that time, I'm sure Dell had a solid handle on what they paid for DRAM pricing for, August (and likely September) from Micron...given this...and Dell's (obviously) well-above-average forecasting....wouldn't you think that Dell would have (at least) had the analysts lower their profit expectations (or at least sent up a couple warning flags) concerning this during the CC. Since the CC, and beyond (Meredith last week/Rollins comments)...no one in Dell's managment has claimed a significant margin impact (due to this)....in fact, the comments have been quite bullish....

(BTW- This is NOT comparable to January's problem..which was a question of whether booked orders would close/ship and they could not commment because it was during a quiet period....Dell could not warn (in that case)...and anyway, there was really nothing to "warn" about..they hit the EPS target)...

So, Skeeter, believe, if you want, that there is a conspiracy here, or believe Dell's management is incompetent...based on experience, I choose to believe that it will have a negligable impact on this quarter...until I hear otherwise...

Like I said, we will all know soon enough...by Wednesday/Thursday next week....
