The clip I get is just over an hour long (1:07:24) and I canït seem to find Mr. Nacchio on it. Does anyone get over 4 hours?

Thoughts on that Joe Nacchio TELECOSM presentation.

I liked the presentation a lot and I think this is a guy who is working hard to focus on what things could be like and should be like 4, 5, 10 years ahead. The ambitious QWST ventures and deals with software and hardware companies to host corporate data and apps and use their net to distribute software and business communications seem very forward thinking and quite unlike what any other telecos are currently doing: he sees the QWST net as an extension of corporate LANs.."information infrastructure". Also wants to see QWST CyberCenters being used to pump out on demand full length videos and live video telephone interactions to the living room. I'm sold on all of this, but I thought he didn't present a really clear case for the USW acquisition (although his presentation wasn't really meant to be about that). IMHO he didn't make it clear how USW will aid the "application service provider" business model that he is so clearly tremendously excited about. In fact a couple of times he said that the legacy telephone company/Bell business model was "old" and "dead" and that the management of these companies was slow moving, poorly motivated, and not good at joint ventures with tech companies, which did kinda beg the question...

But it did make me think that this is a company and a stock for the coming Millenium (hedged in my case with a similar position in Global Crossing).

PS. I bought a video on-line (reel.com). Now I have to wait for it to come through the mail. Interesting how in order to get that product to me that company has to use a transportation mechanism that was invented by the Romans (wrap up the package, write on it where it needs to go, then give it to a passing chariot that is heading in the right direction). Like Joe says I should be able to watch it immediately...and in any language that I choose...
