Government (fortunately) lacks the guts to exclude aliens. Anyone who wishes can go to the border and see people running across almost every day. No one shoots them. And those who are caught by mistake try and try again. We need to face the facts. Hispanics will make up most of the growth of the US in the next century (whites and blacks do not even replace themselves.) We need to provide education and opportunity to them so that they can grow rich and become successful, instead of treating them like criminals. I totally agree. I can't believe anyone could possibly favor not educating these people. Even if you are an isolationist, you have to accept the fact that we have an aging workforce and growth has to come from somewhere. But actually, I was referring more to the displaced people in Northern California... the high tech companies brought workers in from all over the country and a lot of the locals had to leave. One interesting thing, a friends' parents lives in Oregon, and whenever we visit we have to park the cars in the garage lest someone throw eggs at any car with a California license plate. HOWEVER, on a street with maybe 10 houses, virtually everyone's adult kids have come to the bay area to work. My friend being one, the neighbor has 2 kids at HP, etc.
