Thomas.........I did the OMKT trading range study using MetaStock's System Tester feature. I had to program the system test, but this is quite easy once one is familiar with the system menu parameters, etc. A current limitation of MetaStock is that only one security can be run through the System Tester at a time but several different systems can be run against that security concurrently. I've been meaning for some time to look into a trading-range system like I described and decided to take a quick looksee when I saw the OMKT chart. So, no, I haven't traded this system. It is intriguing though that the very first stock I looked at produced a 224% return over 10 months with a totally mechanical system and NO attempt at money management (trailing loss stops, etc.). I'll bet I could get that 224% return down to 10% or less, if not a loss, by micromanaging the trades <ggg>.

Good move to try OmniTrader as a free trial. I ponied up for a combined MetaStock/OmniTrader "deal" when I was first getting started in TA. I keep picking up then putting away OmniTrader in attempts to find a way to use it profitably. I'm disappointed in the quality of OmniTrader's signals. I've heard some people say that they use it to scan large databases for promising candidates which they then have to use other software (like MetaStock) to confirm. Why not use the other software to start with?
