Mohan: Daewoo Bullish on India, What kind of BULL**** is that?. The japanese should know better. The Indian roads:- if U call them that- chock full of potholes, cow manure, dead animals, garbage, wheat, and corn spread out for drying and winnowing by passing cars.

BTW: A great Swami came from your part of India. Swami Vishnu Devananda AKA Swamy Kuttan Nair. He wrote a book by name: Meditation and Mantras.

Lipton USA has signed a three-year agreement with Kanan Group of the US, for import of 6,000 tonnes of mushrooms a year from Chandigarh-based Agro Dutch Foods Ltd.

The company's managing director Malvinder Singh told mediapersons here on Thursday that the Kanan Group, promoted by non-resident Indian Mehul Shah, was making a strategic acquisition of equity in Agro Dutch Foods through a preferential allotment of shares of a substantial premium to the prevailing market price subject to statutory formalities.

The Kanan Group has a turnover in excess of $100 million. The group is the exclusive distributor of the entire Amul range of dairy products in the US.

Agro Dutch Foods has expanded its capacity of 12,000 tonnes a year of mushrooms in the current year from 9,736 tonnes. With its new marketing tie-up with Kanan Group, Agro Dutch plans to further increase its production capacity to 26,000 tonnes per year by September 2000 in a phase manner.

Agro Dutch Foods and Kanan Group have ascertained the US market alone to be around three lakh tonnes each year.

For the year ended March 1999, Agro Dutch posted sales of Rs 45.69 crore and a net profit of Rs 8.59 crore on equity of Rs 13.77 crore. For the first quarter ended June 1999, the company achieved sales of Rs 15.17 crore and a net profit of Rs 3.48 crore. For the full year 1999-2000, the company expects to reach a turnover of Rs 60 crore, Singh added.
