Kuwait Wants $28 for a Barrel of Oil Until March, Paper Says

London, Oct. 1 (Bloomberg) --Kuwait wants oil prices to be
between $25 and $28 a barrel until March of next year, or an
average of $20 a barrel for Brent crude oil for the year ending
in March 2000, the Saudi-owned Al Hayat newspaper reported,
citing Kuwaiti Oil Minister Sheikh Saud Nasser Al Sabah. There is
no room for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Petroleum
Exporting Countries before March even if prices surpassed that
level, as oil producers need to make up for their losses over the
past two years, he said. Kuwait supports extending the current
production cuts beyond March next year until world oil
inventories return to their levels of 1997, Sheikh Saud said.
