"University of Wisconsin - Green Bay Delivers Advanced Academic Services Via Upgraded Campus Network From 3Com"

Powerful 3Com(R) Systems to Provide Secure, Stable, High-Performance
LAN and VPN Infrastructure for University's Research and Education Needs

SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 1, 1999-- 3Com Corporation (Nasdaq:COMS - news) today announced that the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay (UW - Green Bay), a member university of the University of Wisconsin system, has upgraded its campus area network with 3Com's new-generation CoreBuilder® 9000 enterprise switch and
PathBuilder(TM) S500 tunnel switch.

Using the network, the university is improving access to its existing applications and rolling out new network services that were impossible to deploy under its old infrastructure. Chief among this new breed of services is virtual private network (VPN) facilities. Using VPNs, remote and traveling students and faculty can securely access the university network via the Internet Service Provider (ISP) of their choice. By using the VPN service over the Internet, UW - Green Bay can take advantage of the Internet to offer users remote network access without sacrificing data security and integrity.

Mehrdad, I've enjoyed your posts recently and think you are right on the money. Sure, detractors and abrasive doomers and gloomers have a few good points but fail to see the trees through the forest. And they never will. I spent a year on the QCOM thread trying to get a self-proclaimed telecom "expert" to see the wisdom of investing in QCOM but he was stuck on Nokia and Ericsson since they were dominant players. Fact is, telecom and computing are fast changing industries and the best returns go with those that surprise, not necessarily those with the largest market share. And 3Com is well positioned to surprise.

Let us know about your Palm VII when it arrives. I like companies that have their fingers in more than one pot and am looking for $37 before year end. If so, that will be a very nice return.
