this is a cut and paste from a briefing.com item,I have include the entire text so I need not be flamed--also I include the entire comments of the Yahoo! poster as I like his sarcasm. Max90---<<Finally, eBay (EBAY) filed to sell 15.9 mln shares from existing shareholders; mostly from VC firm Benchmark Capital, which filed to sell 12.1 mln of its 15.2 mln stake. - GJ">> << WOW....another exciting news on Ebay!!! by: melenium (27/M/South Hadley, MA) 76775 of 76868 $300/sh tomorrow. Here is why? Read this briefing.com news till end. As we reported on In Play in the last hour of trading, rumors were making the rounds that DD would miss its quarter. Both DLJ and Goldman Sachs were out with comments that DD might come up shy of Q3 estimates due to the impact of two earthquakes and a hurricane. Goldman said Q3 would be hurt by 2-3 cents. DD initially traded over a point lower after hours but has since recovered. The AT&T (T)/Excite@Home (ATHM) saga continues. AT&T came out after the close and acknowledged that it was exploring alternatives for ATHM, but that this exploration was preliminary and that no particular course of action had been decided. AT&T officials clearly felt that last night's denial of talks with America Online (AOL) was a bit too strong, and had better clarify that they were indeed looking at possibilities for their ATHM investment. ATHM traded up yesterday on rumors, down today on denials, but is now up 2 1/16 in after hours to 43 1/2 following this AT&T disclosure. Other than those two stories, there were a slew of earnings warnings, though none from particularly notable companies. You can see the details on Short Stories, but here's the list of companies warning: APEX, JOL, HIG, BDG, CLYS, SIPX, and CDCO. It's that time of the quarter. Finally, eBay (EBAY) filed to sell 15.9 mln shares from existing shareholders; mostly from VC firm Benchmark Capital, which filed to sell 12.1 mln of its 15.2 mln stake. - GJ" Now you know why MER put it in HHH fund and couple of upgrades came recently. I personally think this is unethical and SEC should regulate brokerage farms to help insiders and VCs. However, it's an extremely good news for Ebay longs as they think it's not further dilution rather they can buy more restricted share and test their insanity. Ebayers Knows more about the company than insiders...well atleast they think. I mentioned again and again that the only way to feel and taste insane world is to buy Ebay shares. It's a stock from the other Universe where fraud, rigging, and unethical practices are the norms. So Happy buying and longs please start a contest on "who can pay the highest price on Ebay shares"...becuse you will cherish that insanity till the day you die unless you bleed to death. Pl. let me what do you think. Good luck! Posted: 10/1/1999 12:44 am EDT as a reply to: Msg 76774 by melenium >> nice post melenium--Max90
