My condolenses, Lost1. I fear I will be in the same position soon with my aging shepherd/lab mix. He used to play frisbee until I got tired. Now, he has a hard time walking to the park. My lab, too, is a sweet little girl, but my shepherd . . . he can never be replaced. Give your lab a hug. She will miss Winston also.

lostdood, i started listening to an audio tape that i think you would like "all i really need to know i learned in kindergarten" by robert fulghum. you might have read it. it sounds very much like your kind of thing. it has the antman stamp of approval. :) also i have antz on the agenda this weekend. also: just got a video "the mccourts of limerick...'a riveting glimpse into the world behind angela's ashes" a film by conor mccourt. 'tis is on the way to me in audio book format. do you have 'tis yet? and john pitera wants me to reread nausea by sartre this weekend. lots to do. :)

Lost1, I would like to offer my sympathy. I can truly say I know how you feel. My fifth Lab is lying at my side as I type. At this point in time, although he is not my favorite, he might become it. He is the smartest one I have ever had. They seem to get smarter as time passes. Maybe that's because we do. I will never forget my first one. Right now, he is still my favorite. This pup at my side is a close second. Although the pain will never go away, I can assure you it will ease with time. I know you feel you have lost something that can never be replaced, and it can't. But in time, it might be substituted. In sympathy, Phil
