NAW! You do not want to be like some of them.

Kevin, re: <I'm starting to think CuWHENPIGSFLYmine is just VAPOR and HYPE>

Wow! With all the mishaps Intel is having lately, if Coppermine comes even close to being VAPOR, or if the launch is not perfect, Intel would be in a lot of trouble than it is now.

Here is a report from CNET on a different subject. This is an utter crap that these guys are trying to feed the investment community against AMD -

----------------
update The impact of last week's earthquake in Taiwan will take a while to sink in, so look for problems in the PC market later rather then sooner.
news.cnet.com

.... PCs at the other end of the price spectrum may also suffer. For instance, supply of high-end consumer PCs based on Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) new Athlon processors may dwindle due to a lack of circuit boards, Brookwood said. AMD is more exposed because of an "almost 100 percent reliance on Taiwan" for its Athlon boards, he said. Availability at retailers bears this out. The online sales arm of CompUSA shows no availability for any of the three Athlon-based Aptiva PC models from IBM using this chip.

IBM announced the E series models based on the Athlon processor in early August and at that time said systems would be available in 30 to 40 days. A spokesperson from IBM was unavailable. AMD had no comment, and motherboard makers could not be reached for comment. ......

--------------

This guy comes to a conclusion that AMD Athlon system supply is already dwindling at retailers based on one retailer's (COMPUSA) online info - which is a bad choice, because COMPUSA didn't even start carrying any IBM APTIVA Athlon systems. He didn't mention Intel even once in the article, as if Intel Motherboard supply will be somehow immune to the chipset, and other PC component shortage mentioned in the article. On top of that, he quotes an IBM spokesperson statement made two months ago to further justify his conclusion.

Re: "Maybe I'll go over to the Intel thread and post "WHERE AE THE BENCHMARKS?!" every two hours."

Go right ahead, maybe you'll get some respone. I'd like to see them too.

BTW - I think your reference to it as "MIA-CuLATERmine" is a little off base. Remember CuMine has never been introduced. In the case of the MIA-thlon, AMD did an introduction in June without any announced customers and systems were not seen for months despite claims that it was shipping in volume. Under those conditions I think the "MIA" term was well deserved. I don't expect Intel to intro Cumine on an empty stage but if they do, and then followup with no visible product or customers for months, I will personally join you in calling it the MIA-CuLATERmine.

<Maybe I'll go over to the Intel thread and post "WHERE AE THE BENCHMARKS?!" every two hours.>

If you don't see them next week at the Microprocessor Forum, you'll definitely see them 3 1/2 weeks from now. I've seen some preliminary benchmarks results, and I'll join with PB in saying that Coppermine will be competitive with Athlon.

And I say "competitive" in the conservative sense, because I know what Coppermine is capable of in the mid-term future, but I don't know what AMD will do by then.

I think you must be one of those rabid intc haters that the intc longs were complaining about.
