To the best of my knowledge, we have never had a president without proven ability to effectively administer a high-level governmental function, be it as governor, senator, congressman, vice president, or commander of the armed forces. I can't imagine voting for someone without an effective track record, just because they DIDN'T have experience.

You say "politician" like it's a bad word. But politics is a certain form of governance ~ in our government, the leaders are elected by popular vote. They won't be elected without both currying favor from the populace, and garnering the support of the wealthy and powerful. You might find that distasteful, but I would suggest that the opposite would be more distasteful. How would you like to be led by someone who did not have popular support and did not have the support of the wealthy and powerful?
