those same Strategis type studies underestimated computer growth in China by over 250% last year and so far this year, what makes you believe them for next year? NONE of them dealt with the cooperative buying power of China. They all (a) concentrated on individual and business buying power within a few major cities, (b) separated out HongKong (now part of China), (c) failed to fully appreciate continued foreign investment in China, and (d) assumed the Chinese were content to continue to do accounting and other computer related functions the old fashioned way - pencil and paper relative to surveys.

They missed 90% of the picture for suburbs and other outlying areas (beyond the larger cities). A typical waiter at a major hotel in Beijing makes around $20KUS from wages and tips.

Mongolia! Geez, the frozen north - they run computers in the middle of the desert! I met with a Mongolian student two months ago who was telling me of this. Flying back and forth to college each year in the US.

The picture in China is changing.
