Since we're in off-topic heaven these days, I don't feel bad about posting the following fresh wire item:

Compaq named Yvonne R. Jackson, a senior executive at Burger King, as senior vice president of human resources, a key position as the troubled company rebuilds a management team wracked by executive departures.

I swear, this is genuine. Look on AP if you don't believe me.

Oh man, I've generated a few one-liners in my day, but even I don't feel equal to the task of mining this particular infinitely rich vein.

"Would you like some memory with that?"

I urge others to contribute.

Regards,

Thanks for the URL. But instead of a second split in the near future, maybe SUNW has its eye on some other company and as part of the take-over, shareholders of that company would get shares of SUNW. This line in the article makes me think its not us, the existing shareholders, SUNW is thinking about as needing more shares:

>Sun Microsystems said that the increased authorized shares would give the company "flexibility to
>issue common stock for other proper corporate purposes which may be identified.

Proggy, QUICK! Hundreds will ask: December 9 IS the split date.

[If the approved by the shareholderes, the stock split recommended by Sun Microsystems' board last month would be
paid Dec. 9, the filing showed.

Best wishes,

Mephisto

PS: I hope I am allowed to wish you and your wife a wonderful weekend. We have a sunny and warm autumn in Seattle.
