Compaq announced today that they would stop granting stock options to incoming employees, but would instead give them paper hats with the Compaq logo on them. "We want to re-emphasize the company's commitment to speedy customer service. Besides, at our share price, it's all just paper," said Yvonne R. Jackson, Vice President of Human Resources.

Compaq is re-examining the logistics at their new experimental "speedy drive-through" retail computer facility after several customers complained that, upon returning to their offices, they discovered their computer order had been incorrectly filled. "Shoot, they always do that and I'm always too dumb to check" said one customer.

I promise no more.
