To All, Musings about the Taiwan component disruptions: 1. This has to be good for the channel sellers, who are loaded to the rafters with unsellable boxes. Conversely, it can't be great for Dell, Gateway and MUEI. 2. Some articles have mentioned PC price rises. Not gonna happen. Everyone who has half a brain knows that the disruption is temporary. They are not going to pay up for the couple of weeks that PCs are in somewhat less of a glut situation. They will simply wait for Taiwan to crank out the components again. 3. It provides a ready excuse for the PC industry to report lousy numbers. Which means the crunch of nuclear winter will be put off for a week or two. 4. The Taiwanese will surprise everyone with how quickly they get back on a full production schedule. 5. DRAM prices will fall, and soon. OEMs have been hoarding DRAM, but I don't care how many MBs of memory a box has if it doesn't have a motherboard. <g>
