Markets

Follow Up Product to What Has Been Acclaimed As
The Most Natural Virtual Surround Sound Available

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif., Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Spatializer Audio
Laboratories (OTC Bulletin Board: SPAZ) announced today the release of
Spatializer N-2-2(TM) Virtual Surround Sound version 2.0. Spatializer N-2-2
is utilized by leading DVD manufacturers such as Toshiba, Samsung, Hitachi,
Acer, Zenith, Goldstar and Emerson to reproduce theatrical quality surround
sound from just two ordinary speakers.
"N-2-2 version 2.0 pushes the audio experience envelop and steps up the
pressure on our competition to try to keep pace with our widely adopted
technology," said Henry R. Mandell, Interim Chief Executive Officer of
Spatializer Audio Laboratories, Inc. "This new version sends the message to
our licensees that we are committed to continuously enhancing our technology
to provide the finest audio experience possible to their customers."
The new version of N-2-2 takes advantage of the increases in processing
power and memory available in today's latest digital A/V systems.
"When N-2-2 was originally developed, the most common and cost-effective
audio DSPs were capable of performing around 40 million instructions per
second (MIPS). With compression algorithms such as Dolby Digital utilizing
over 30 MIPS, that didn't leave much room for N-2-2," said Pete Birch, Senior
Vice President, Sales and Marketing at Spatializer. "Advances in signal
processing technology along with higher performance microprocessors, now allow
us to offer a significantly improved algorithm. Having worked with so many
manufacturers, we learned how to make N-2-2 better without breaking the bank
on processing power. This new version offers our licensees a significantly
improved effect in exchange for a small increase in MIPS and memory
requirement. We have improved the overall surround effect in addition to
making the algorithm more stable and easier to implement. Over the coming
weeks we will be offering this upgrade to all our licensees. In addition to
continuing our aggressive marketing of N-2-2 for DVD players, we also intend
to target the emerging HDTV and Information Appliance markets."
Henry R. Mandell concluded, "N-2-2 is already highly acclaimed by the
consumer electronics industry. At Toshiba's product announcement last week of
their new flagship SD9100 DVD player, they stated that Spatializer N-2-2
produces the most natural virtual surround sound available, with an ideal
proportion of stereo, dialog and wrap-around surround sound effects. This
kind of testimonial is most gratifying and confirms to us that we continue on
track to be the de facto standard for virtual surround sound in DVD and
indeed, in the entire digital audio market."
