MCI Worldcom, whose ISP division UUNet will be an Intel partner in its new effort, is the largest player in the Web hosting market, according to Dataquest. Last year, MCI Worldcom earned $55 million with 5.8 percent of the market. IBM was next with $50.24 million, a 5.3 percent share, followed by GTE Internetworking with $44.1 million, a 4.6 percent share. Exodus Communications had $38.3 million, for a 4 percent share in 1998, according to Dataquest.
