Hi KZNerd; The thing I would like to know, is how many machines are failing, and what tests they are failing at.

My guess is that a high percentage (i.e. >2%) of the 3-RIMM machines are dying at room temperature, and that all the 2-RIMM machines are running fine. But when they take machines out and torture them, (operating temperature, vibration, noisy environment, brown outs, fan failure, memory insertion / removal cycles, etc.), they are getting nasty failure rates on the 3-RIMM machines and more failures on the 2-RIMMs than they want. The reason for guessing this is that otherwise, I think they would be shipping those 2-RIMM machines, or, at the very least, the box makers would be gearing up to produce them (and therefore buying RDRAM chips from Samsung).
