Barrons did a huge story on Intel (by huge, I mean it covered about 35 pages with the cover) about middle of 1997 (any body remember it?) If memory serves, INTC at the time was about 77 split unadjusted and Barrons predicted the stock to go to 105! split unadjusted. I THINK intc has split once (?) since the article. Most of the old article looked to Merced and I think the article assumed that Merced would be out by 1999. The market paid no attention to Barrons price/ value. The stock price remained sort of unmoved for about 4 months after the article.

Anyone have a clearer remembrance? It would be interesting to compare. Barrons seems a lot like Niles, they get the facts right but the conclusions wrong.

t2 - Re: ", Remember the Amazon.bomb story a few months back. Notice how Amzn stock has been on a tear all week. Well, Intel is a real company and imagine what its stock can do---giving it til January for the results"

I remember it WELL !

A friend of mine gave me a copy - which I have saved and keep it nearby for reference.

Bearons seems to be written by a crowd of geezers that are expecting men's SPATS to come back in style sometime soon.
