All of the DAP's (Direct Access Platforms) went to a 12 hour day when ISLD led the way a few weeks ago. MBT has by a mile, the most comprehensive short list available. watley's short list, for instance, is about 50% of MBT's. MBT has the best customer support out of the group ( they were the very first to institute a real-time chat-room through out the trading day as an added measure of customer support ). They handle many more clients and tickets than all the other guys put together. <<< wonder why that is ?!? And for a "newbie" they are the ONLY DAP to offer 5$ commissions while you get your feet under you. They have an absolutely wicked trading desk for times you want to call in a trade. You won't find MBT clients trashing other DAP's, but you will find quite a few people get all bent out of shape over MBT. MBT is the standard by which the others are measured. Some people hate that, but that's the way it is. I don't think any of the other choices are particularly bad ones, if they really stunk they would be out of business already. Only one can be the best though. Why is MBT the only place that offers 5$ trades? I will tell you. Its because they are incredibly fair. They realize there is a learning curve, not only for the software, but also the tactics one needs to develop to take in so much info and act on it. To learn how to use the right order route at the right time, also requires some time, effort, and probably some losses too. )c: That's trading in the REAL world. (yes i realize some of us are not in that world) So, and this is all just my opinion, I think the 5$ program is MORE than FAIR. It gives someone a chance to get there bearings without incurring so much slippage. It also encourages you to trade smaller, which is exactly what a trader should be doing anyway, when learning so many new things. At any rate, whatever you end up doing. Try not to get too awfully excited. Try to stay calm. It IS very exciting to get direct access. Its a blast, but try to be measured when you start out. good luck,
