Oct. 01, 1999 (Electronic Buyers News - CMP via COMTEX) -- Qualcomm Inc.,
San Diego, has announced plans to develop chipsets for a new class of
Internet-access handsets. Called the iMSM (Internet Mobile Station Modem), the
new family is based on a 32-bit RISC core from ARM Ltd.

The iMSM line will consist of two offerings: the iMSM4000 and iMSM4100. The
iMSM4000 includes a CPU for Personal Information Management smart phones
possessing an advanced end-user interface. The iMSM4100 features a
dual-processor architecture for wireless handhelds.
