>>SUNW eats HWP's Unix offering.

By contrast, the weak performance in Unix servers has long been a
problem, as Hewlett-Packard has steadily lost market share to Sun.
Though Hewlett-Packard now has a competitive product line, analysts
said the company still lacked the focus Sun brings to the market.

The thrust of Sun's sales pitch is that Unix is the most robust operating
system and that Sun's version of Unix, Solaris, is the most advanced.
Hewlett-Packard, on the other hand, sells both Unix servers and
machines that run Microsoft's Windows NT, thus diluting its efforts,
analysts said. <<

I believe you are right. To me, a company that tries to make so many products can lose its focus very quickly.

I'm not sure when Sun went public but I've been an investor/ trader in the company since 87 or so ~ I think.

What I've observed about Sun over the past few years is that management is tight, conservative and very focused.

And you know, if it were not for the Internet, and threads like Sun, most ordinary investors like myself would never have access to this type of information. We see Sun's press releases, we read speeches from Scott and Ed.

And I feel confident about my investment in Sun. Also, I no longer trade Sun shares. I hold for the long term.

Still, I look forward to the day when JAVA runs faster. I know it will get there ~ eventually.

Cheers,

Mephisto
