Alan - LOL...quality is the key to a good short list not quantity...it is nice to be able to find a stock that is heavily in-play available I must say re: MBTrading...that they are more than willing and do a good job of trying to find available shares if and when you call pre-market and during the trading day and ask them to locate a particular stock - must give credit where credit is due...other firms will search for available shares too Cormac

I'd like to respectfully disagree with Alans SECOND statement (not the first). I think that people want to short the stocks they want to short. Spotting an opportunity and then finding that it isn't shortable is frustrating. Also, I found out something about CyberCorp that is a little unusual. First, although they do have a good short list, I've heard that MBTrading and ABWatley are somewhat better. BUT, CyberCorp has some capability to borrow short shares extremely quickly. In CyberX, when you pass the cursor over the Short Button (no mouse click), a little yellow flag pops up in about 1 second that tells you how many shares are available. Either something like "Short Available (5,000 max)" or "No shortable shares". This is a whole lot easier than trying to find a stock on a short. (I don't know how CyberTrader does it.) But let's say that there are "No shortable Shares" or whatever is the analog in CyberTrader. In CyberTrader and CyberX, they have a little bulletin board thingy where you can send messages. Several weeks ago, I wanted to short a stock pre-market that showed, "No shortable shares". I typed in a quick message, "Can you get short shares of <symbol>?" About 2 minutes later, I got a message back saying that there were 2000 shares available. Made me VERY happy. Regards, Dan.
