There's more to the Halliburton and Western Gas scenario than we're being told. The deals were all done with other peoples money (Halliburtons and Westerns) and UP had to pay them back from production. There's no reason in the world why that arrangement couldn't go on indefinitely as long as Halliburton and Western Gas were getting paid back and the wells were producing. All the reports were that the wells were producing as expected and the technique was being refined to improve flow rates - so - what happened ? Why wouldn't they want to keep doing this if they get their money back within a year or two and end up with royalties on the ongoing production ? Then suddenly it all stops. Why ? These are very important questions that need to be answered. If this company were a little more up front with its shareholders, I might consider buying in again - but the track record is not good.
