On another slant, being in the top 2, I don't see it as an automatic condemnation either. There are at least 3 in the top 10 who are there through hard work, they stay exclusively one one thread and are up 18 hours and more honestly analyzing and charting stocks, teaching, explaining, and educating. They don't pound their chests, or have a team of 'supporters' touting them nor do they start thread after thread to 'get noticed' They don't compare and bask in the fun of 'tens of suspensions'. They were actually never suspended.

I can honestly tell you that if I were booted off SI I would expect a handful of 'supporters' to protest once or twice then things would go along as if I never existed and that is because no one indispensible nor would I 'incite' scores of my supporters to tear apart SI to get myself reinstated. I would be successful without SI just as tokyo Mex is successful without SI. But as I see it is detrimental to SI to have the most bookmarked, I would want to see it go rather than have a 'ridiculous contest with no holds barred by the only handful in the top 20 who resort to a lot of shenanigans to get themselves noticed.

Middle people can be really great, that is true but to judge some of us because of 2 or 3 who won't stop as anything is not being fair either. Some people who are in the middle will rise to the top if they deserve do, especially when some of those who are on the top are made to 'quiet down and stay on their own thread'

As far as the threads being #1 there is no way a thread can be
#1 if they don't deserve it, but its through a team effort. Ironically, its never the most bookmarked that has his thread as #1 b3ecaue his self-aggrandizment doesn't carry over to the thread. That is because it takes more than one self-proclaimed guru to turn an entire thread into #1. It takes a 'team'.. where no one is guru or anything but a well-oiled machine with every member an important cog of that oiled machine. Where some of us on the MG thread actually think alike have the same trading patterns, and post what the other is thinking. Where newbies 6 months ago are now 'calling buy signals' from learning well an well-seasoned traders are sharing their 'short' or other technical knowledge kindly with others, without any upstaging. So while I certainly think we should do away with the 'most bookmarked person' I still think of Market Gems as still being the "Most bookmarked and #1 thread on SI" because MG is the sum of its parts and not run by a 'Piped Piper'. So however you attack SI's sytems of rankings Most of us will agree that the threads are a separate entity from the 'most bookmarked posters'...
