Walter, I'm not familiar with the Compact Flash Assoc. I see Sandisk is a member, and I see many applications for CF, but can you tell me exactly how this benefits Sandisk?

Does Sandisk hold enough IP patents on CF to make money on all products sold? Is it a significant fee to make up for not being the original supplier? In the best world, they would make the lions share of CF, but I wonder what is their percentage of the market?

Thanks for being patient. I'm trying to add another interesting company to my already crowded brain. I will greatly appreciate your helping me get up to speed.

Regards,

Mark

PS Here's an interesting remark from briefing.com on DRAM. I wonder if there is a similar situation in CF? It would seem that concerns for supply drove DRAM way up, and now they seem to think there is no problem getting product from Taiwan? Well, why wouldn;t the same apply to CF?

09:52 ET Semis : DLJ says that spot DRAM prices fell again yesterday, and "demand is so weak that many dealers have sold no DRAM at all in the past two days" and many dealers have suspended quotes as "buyers appear unwilling to buy at any price." DLJ cites pending PC shortage. MU -4 3/4, TXN -2 5/16, CY -1 3/4.
