I agree. Issuing warrants to clients is quite common. And not necessarily a bad thing. Especially if its triggered by some event.

That said, VIXL's problems may have something to do with the info found in this post (quoting VIXL's recent S1A dated September 1, 1999): Message 11329278

"A COMPONENT USED IN OUR TRANSCEIVERS HAS EXPERIENCED AN ABNORMALLY HIGH FAILURE RATE WHICH HAS ADVERSELY AFFECTED AND COULD IN THE FUTURE AFFECT OUR SALES."

Now, problems like this are not uncommon. And reserves have been set aside. VIXL is doing what it must to rectify the problem. Still, I'm not so sure I wouldn't be a bit careful here.

Zoox does have a fibre switch, gadzoox.com
Can we figure out why they are at the all time low since IPO, especially in the wake of the Vixel IPO??? Zoox may be putting a cap on Vixel, whereas Brocade and Emulex are running way above these. Brocade seems to have the product to back the price. Please post you thoughts, especially on comparing emulex into the mix.

Ken . . .

The offer is for future business

Tom,

AFAIK Sun not only intends to replace Vixel hubs with Ancor switches in their product offerings, but will also attempt to upgrade existing installations in this fashion. To me this suggests that Vixel has no concrete prospect of doing much business with Sun going forward, and that the shares were issued to forestall Sun suing for the cost of the retrofit. If you have specific information to the contrary, I'd love to hear it.
