ok john, who do you think the "editors" are? supposedly the journal was written around the beginning of 1932. But note the footnote on page 4. "1 Olgier P . . ., who will be often mentioned in this journal. He was a bailiff's clerk. Roquentin met him in 1930 in the Bouville library"

Odd. how would the editors know that? if AR is going to mention it later, then why not let him mention it? Obviously, AR is not available to comment on questions the editor has in the undated pages. And the editors don't give much description of who AR is at the beginning. It's like an knowledgeable perspective but a very oddly distant perspective.

So, too, the language of AR. Much is familiar in sound, sentence by sentence. But so little context that the reader is lost for much of the time in the early text.
