If that post is the typical outcome of flowing wine and political discussion, I hope you partake of both a lot! In my mind, you made a lot of terrific points. Your study of charts over the years saves us a lot of time and inures to our benefit. Great post!

Thanks, Bruce; you made several points, and hopefully will continue to make more on this and other topics. As for the "Austrian political conversation," I don't know if others will care about the election outcome there, but personally I'm fascinated. (Well, actually the wife is fascinated because she studies European politics, and I'm mildly interested by osmosis. <g>) For those who might not have been following this, Austria now has three roughly equal parties, with the mainstream Social Democrats and Christian Democrats joined by an upstart populist party led by a charismatic leader. One can't really compare it to the US situation, but just imagine if a Pat Buchanan-led Reform Party captured 1/3 of Congress, and you'll realize what Bruce's "Wow!" was about...
