Service Merchandise to install CIVI Checkmate check readers

and portable touch screen payment DtTerminals chain-wide

IVI Checkmate Corp. (NASDAQ: CMIV); (TSE: IVC/IVI) today announced a $4 million order from Service Merchandise (NYSE:SME) of Nashville, Tennessee, for eN-Check"! 431 check readers and eN-Touch"! 1000 portable customer-interactive debit/credit terminals. for $6 Million. Chain-wide implementation began in August and will be completed at the end of this month.

Service Merchandise is replacing its current installed base of electronic signature capture pads with IVI Checkmate's eN-Touch 1000 portable interactive touch screen and signature capture terminal. The retailer will also install the IVI Checkmate eN-Check 431 in all stores. The eN-Check 431 is the most widely installed check reader on the market, providing accurate MICR reading that reduces check fraud.

Greg Lewis, President and CEO of IVI Checkmate's U.S. operations stated, "The eN-Touch 1000's portability will enable Service Merchandise sales associates to accept consumer payment at the point of influence versus at the POS terminal." Lewis added, "In addition to capturing the signature during a credit transaction, Service Merchandise customers will be able to use the eN-Touch 1000 to pay with online debit."
