Thought you'd get a kick out of this...Apparently you're not the only one who is reminded of the Texas scenario:

A Wink, A Smile, and 90-Days

Jeffrey G. Bane

After removing myself from the csy2k fray six months ago, I'm back for one
post. I wouldn't make this one, but I saw a Moet Countdown Clock at the
store and was reminded of a boss I once had:

It was during the late 80's oil bust, and the Texas bank in which I worked
was going through tough times. With oil prices at rock bottom, and loan
defaults and bankruptcies at record highs, there was little hope of salary
increases, and even less hope for bonuses. Our president, however, thinking
it would raise morale, would pass through the halls giving thumbs up,
smiling, winking, and saying, "90-days! 90-days, and everything will be
just peachy." (Yes. He really said the word, "peachy.")

Well, things never reached the fruity stage. The president and other top
management lost their jobs when a competitor bought our bank. Those of us
who survived found ourselves working for those we once loathed. While my
story had a happy ending (leaving to shepherd a flock of lawyers for a rich
man), for many, their lives and careers were never as golden. Some have
never recovered from the shock of that event.

While I hope that all the happy face news is correct, and that all Kosky's
winks, smiles and promises are true, I believe that whatever occurs will be
unexpected by most, and a change for all. Some will find themselves in a
better place, but others will never see times as golden as today.

"90-Days"

Jeff

Cheryl,

You are conspicuous by your absence. Any new research to share?
