Do you think that Kerensky's government was a "democratic government"?

Well, of course it has frequently been said -- and correctly said -- that between between the February and October Revolutions, Russia was the freest country in the world. But it was governed by a "Provisional Government," which same to power in the midst of a war. Some say the biggest mistake the Provisional Government made was to continue the war. On the other hand, it probably could NOT not continue it, because what had discredited the royal family the most in the public eye was its alleged "secret dealings" with the enemy, and it was this that made it possible to get the Tsar to abdicate. How could the Provisional Government then turn around and start dealing with the Germans itself?

Others say that the biggest mistake the Provisional Government made was not to lock up the Bolsheviks, when it became clear what they were after. (Remember, though, that this WAS the "freest country in the world" -- for a time.)

In any event, the Provisional Government WAS provisional; it was not an established democratic state.

BTW, the Constituent Assembly was held AFTER the Bolshevik coup. That is why it was so easy for the Bolsheviks to disperse it.
