Lifeisgood: Just think. If YOU stayed 100% invested in the market and your prediction came true, you could change your screen name to "Lifewasgood". If interest rates continue to climb and the dollar continues to fall, I have a not so funny feeling you may be right. I went short the market 7/16. That date happened to coincide with a major top (since then surpassed) which was dumb luck more than anything else (I have Friday's off from my other job). The danger to my portfolio since that date has been missing out on a major market move up. Since then, I have done very well shorting crappy companies with high betas which crater more than the average bear each time the market drops. Current plan is to do the same (i.e., short real junk) and keep a very big cash position for when the market truly does bottom which I see as some time (and perhaps another 10-15%) away. best... LIG
