IMO this is a valid concern fred

and on the sports franchises, i know nick WAS considering them - (as a personal investment) and only if they did NOT interfere with his BRCM focus (and he and his team is VERY focused). he said he NEVER does anything that is not BRCM related, so i suspect, that even though he would have used (if it is truly scrapped, and not just on back burner) personal funds for the transaction, it would have been some type of strategic marketing ploy for a "Broadcom Inside" like awareness campaign. In addition to knowing silicon, nick is VERY shrewd, so i doubt this (or something like this) is dead.

but I do think he may have recently overestimated his market clout and near term penetration.

so as before, i am on the sidelines with this one at this time.

Their Epigram division WILL kick some serious butt on the home networking front though..... eg., Radio Shack.
