Fair enough, I only became cynical when this chinese espionage thing came up at the National Labs. Just assuming the worst allegations were true (which I am not conceding), the real issue for me was the spin that those in charge "looked the other way" as some sort of pandering to somebody's special interest, etc. The notion that there was some diabolical menace up there pulling the strings, when it was likely just an oversight, was just absurd. It reminded me a little of that "scandal" a few years ago where bounced checks were forgiven for congress members. Well, ok, is this major corruption or not?
