As you know from reading my posts, I usually quote the comments I'm responding to word for word so there won't be any argument about misquoting anyone or taking things out of context. That seems fair to the person whose comments I find interesting enough to discuss. In your case, the gist of your original post was that every penny of CompuServe's subscriber fees "flows to the bottom line." That's the main point you accused Abelson of missing. I'm just suggesting the common sense notion that adding several hundred thousand new customers to any business seldom comes without associated costs.
So you see, it's not the people on the CC I'm suggesting are a little off the mark.
