Craig,

I just bought a CanonFB 620P flatbed scanner which hooks up via a parallel port (in contrast to the majority of newer scanners with USB only connectors). It cost me $99.99, but I found a $20.00 rebate coupon.

It is not the highest definition scanner, but it gets the job done and is perfectly fine for web publishing...

...but not nearly as convenient as a digital camera and a CF card!

Craig,

I thought I replied to you but cannot find my reply on the thread so...

I made a mistake - that printer cost me $400 not $800. One should never look back at technology prices however, for example (pulling this thread back on topic) in March of 95 I paid $799 for a 20MB Type II card. I recently purchased three Sandisk Type II 20MB cards for a total price of ~$100. That's quite a price reduction for a 4 year period.

Gary

P.S. I agree about your seperate scanner/printer suggestion - that's the arrangement I have.
