The Holy Spirit foretells the coming spiritual redemption of Israel through the Messiah.

"[Isa 40:1] Comfort, comfort my people, says your God.

[Isa 40:2] Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and cry to her that her warfare is ended, that her iniquity is pardoned, that she has received from the LORDs hand double for all her sins.

[Isa 40:3] A voice cries: "In the wilderness prepare the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.

[Isa 40:4] Every valley shall be lifted up, and every mountain and hill be made low; the uneven ground shall become level, and the rough places a plain.

[Isa 40:5] And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together, for the
mouth of the LORD has spoken."

[Isa 40:9] Get you up to a high mountain, O Zion, herald of good tidings; lift up your voice with strength, O Jerusalem, herald of good tidings, lift it up, fear not; say to the cities of Judah, "Behold
your God!"

[Isa 40:10] Behold, the Lord GOD comes with might, and his arm rules for him; behold, his reward is with him, and his recompense before him.

[Isa 40:11] He will feed his flock like a shepherd, he will gather the lambs in his arms, he will carry them in his bosom, and gently lead those that are with young."

John the Baptist prepares the people for the coming Messiah Jesus and the fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy.

[Mark 1:1] The beginning of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God.

[Mark 1:2] As it is written in Isaiah the prophet, "Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way;

[Mark 1:3] the voice of one crying in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight--"

[Mark 1:4] John the baptizer appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance for the
forgiveness of sins.

[Mark 1:5] And there went out to him all the country of Judea, and all the people of Jerusalem; and
they were baptized by him in the river Jordan, confessing their sins.

[Mark 1:6] Now John was clothed with camel's hair, and had a leather girdle around his waist, and
ate locusts and wild honey.

[Mark 1:7] And he preached, saying, "After me comes he who is mightier than I, the thong of
whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie.

[Mark 1:8] I have baptized you with water; but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit."

James,
<<So quick you are to label anything that you don't understand(or don't want to understand.) For your information, Preturism was the original Apostolic doctrine>>
We do understand and have seen these things before.Do you think God forgot to put the Apostolic doctrine in the Scriptures? If he did then why can't we all just study the scriptures and walk in a personal relationship with him that does not require picking other people apart?
<<Your'e pre-conceived man taught doctrines will continue to cause you pain and confusion and you will eventually have to answer to God for it!>>
Why is it that every time we judge others it is usually ourselves that are guilty. This is a statement you might should take to heart for yourself.
<<But for the grace of God, there go I.>>
Can you explain this statement for I see no grace in this post. You appear to have become as hard hearted as Emile and Chris.
Nancy

I'm sorry, but preturism was not the "original Apostolic doctrine". I can't find any indication this belief goes back farther than a hundred years of so.
