Well, I was reading this very interesting article in today's Times about the battle emerging in the on-line brokerage business:

Online Brokerages Use Advertising in a Battle for New Customers
nytimes.com

One section in particular caught my eye. Could it be? Nahhh...

One new spot shows an online trader watching a preview for a new movie starring Anna Nichole Smith. He declares it the worst movie ever, then dumps stock in "Trimount" the Hollywood company that produced it. The point, says Jerry Gramaglia, ETrade's marketing chief, is that investors can take charge and act immediately to get financial results.

That ad, along with others that include the rich woman and her young man and another depicting a hermit who gets investment advice from the stuffed moose head and woodchuck in his cabin, have garnered enough attention that ETrade has every intention of keeping its marketing budget "north of our rivals," Gramaglia said.

Art imitating Life...
