While Wheatley ran wild early for 91 yards in the first half, he only had 9 in the second. The Oakland offense scored on 2 of its first 5 possessions and 1 of its last 9. They had around 229 yards of o in the first half and 154 in the second.

Going by the time of possession or total yards, the Seahawks lose, but it wasn't completely about that this time.

The Seahawks dominated on special teams, Kaufman getting his punt return for a TD called back, and the 'Hawks own Charlie Rogers got going for 68 yards on a punt return to set up an FG.

To paraphrase a local commentator, I was "scared" with the Raiders coming to town. The 'Hawks, while suspect early, sucked it up late and stole the home win.

It turns out that the offense of the Raiders was playing havoc with the 'Hawks defensive schemes, and then when the Seahawks adjusted and went to a basically man-to-man D, they stopped the Raiders. If this is the case, it bodes well for the "physicality" of the Seahawks' D.

The Seahawks will need to run the ball better, averaging around 3 yards again on Watters' 25-carry effort. Watters added 55 on 5 receptions. The FB Reggie Brown contributed with a fairly long TD reception, and ran once for 4 yards. If there's anything I would criticize in the Seahawks' offense, it's that Watters has gotten the ball a tad much and the FB a tad little. Brown should have 5 or 6 carries instead of 1 (and Watters 20-25 instead of 25-30), especially since Brown is actually getting 4 yards every time they feed him the ball on the ground.

Perhaps the biggest factor was in the 2nd half where the crowd once again affected a game in the Kingdome - for the first time in over a decade.

It's rumored that Kaufman is unhappy in Oakland and he's a free agent at the end of this year. He'd be a great fit for the 'Hawks and is an ex-Husky.

Toward the end of the game, Gannon started throwing everything ... he'd better check his mechanics.

I think that in the NFL this and the Buf-MIA are the power matchups of the week. Forget for the moment Jacksonville, Tenn, and NE in the AFC; it's all about Buf, Mia, Sea, and Oak.

**** SPeaking of pro QBs from the NW... Oregon has Akili Smith, Grazziani, and Miller at Denver.
