My point exactly.
Also if an explanation is sufficiently poor (hehe) then maybe it should be abandoned all together rather than modified. just a thought. Looking back into history many theories (e.g. Newtons Corpuscles), that were adapted so much in order to explain new phenomenon that did not fit into the current theory, were actually wrong, and did not need adaptation, but should be rejected.
IMO evolution is in this category.
