Re. in a bull market, an awful lot of very dumb people like yourself can make lots of money.

Jock, This is not directed to you, but the thread in general. IMHO too much time is being spent on other than the happy fact that almost anyone can make good money by buying good technology stocks and falling asleep. Wouldn't it be more pleasant and profitable to discuss how we can maximize the bucks we make? Good luck with your investments. Scott

Thread, the stocks I'm buying are VOX and VERT, told you about that one around 12 or so it is 20, I double my shares last week and double them again today at the open. Also, VERT which has made nice W bottom then base and has now broken out, VERT is in the B2B biz. I also added to JDSU last week. All three of the stocks, are buys, IMHO.

Jock -
you are really full of yourself. In case you didn't know, you can still buy a mainframe for millions of dollars, and you could buy a PDP-8 in 1969 for less than $5000. Your analogy would have been more credible if you had pointed to the demolition of the minicomputer market by PCs at slightly lower price points, than to a completely inappropriate and incorrect comparison with the mainframe market.

If you are trying to claim that mainframes dropped in price to $300 and that's what drove the PC revolution, you are full of crap. Likewise the idea that a PC can out-compute a 60's vintage mainframe is a stupid analogy - like saying that a volkswagen has more pulling power than a team of clydesdales. True but trivial.

This discussion was about supply and demand, not the creation of new markets which incidentally included products which fanciful people like yourself assume are "the same" as products costing a thousand times as much in some current market.

Your analogy is so stupid I can hardly figure out where to begin. I hope you are a better lawyer than you are a debater.

BTW what possible value to this thread to you ascribe to your posts?

Jock,..Re:.Thus, the computing industry is the perfect example of the laws of supply and demand working.

More an example of Moore's law working. Additionally, technological advances in general have fostered lower and lower prices. It's not immediately clear where demand had a specific role in the evolution of the Pc but it is wholly clear why prices have decreased and it's not from trying to stimulate demand.<g>

fmi.uni-passau.de

This law predicts that the price per bit (the smallest unit of memory) drops by 30 percent every year. It implies that you will receive 30 percent more power (speed/capacity) at the same price, or that the "price of a certain power is 30 percent less.")

jeffsutherland.org

Furthermore, use of name calling and insults weaken any arguments considerably, even valid arguments. <g>

Cheers,

Lee

Jock. Did you used to flame everyone in court when you were practicing too? Of all the folks on this thread you could chose to flame, rudedog is the least likely candidate I can think of (except maybe for Greg M <ggg>). Why don't you pack up your limited vocabulary and mental skills and find a nice quiet place to play with yourself instead of polluting this thread with your nonsense. I normally don't get this rude with posters but I've made you an exception to my rule. Perhaps I should cut you a little slack based on your age, but you seem to be living proof that not all whines mellow with age. No need to respond, you are on my permanent ignore list anyway. And please don't chase any ambulances, those folks inside need real lawyers.
