CAMARILLO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 4, 1999--

Both Companies to Showcase Virtual Studio Networking Audio and
Video Transport Solutions for Regional or Nationwide Contribution
Video Networks

Video Products Group Inc. (VPG) Monday announced that it will
demonstrate LAN/WAN audio and video transport and control technology
with Philips Corp. at the upcoming VidTranS `99 Show in Universal
City, Calif., from Oct. 3-6.
The showcase demonstrating the transmission of uncompressed video
over fiber optic cabling will integrate VPG's VPG8000 Serial Digital
Video/Audio Transport System with Philips' NetCaptain management and
control system and their Venus routing switcher. The NetCaptain will
control all the functions of the transmission network including the
Venus routing system and the VPG8000.
"We are delighted to be working with Philips at the VidTranS
show," commented Dr. Eugene Keane, president and chief executive
officer of Video Products Group. "VPG and Philips have both made
significant advances in the development of their respective
technologies. Showing interoperability with the NetCaptain system
illustrates our commitment to delivering world-class video transport
solutions for carriers and reaffirms VPG's dedication to developing
and manufacturing leading-edge transmission technologies."
Stated Scott Bosen, product manager for Philips Corp., "We are
likewise excited about the opportunity to work with VPG at the
VidTranS show. VPG has demonstrated through its products tremendous
forward thinking regarding the opportunities at the intersection of
telecommunications and video and have developed unique transport
solutions to meet the growing demand. Our combined demonstration will
show attendees a cost-effective, scalable solution for routing and
managing uncompressed video streams between facilities."

The VPG8000 Serial Digital Video Transmission System

The VPG8000 Serial Digital Video transmission system is a
cost-effective way to transport ITU-R/SMPTE 259M-compliant 4:2:2 (D1)
video and audio through dedicated fiber or coaxial cable links. The
VPG8000 can take either pre-embedded D1 video/audio, or
already-embedded analog or digital audio into the data stream as well
as various machine control and time code signals. The VPG8000 makes
possible digital tape deck-to-camera remoting, long-distance "virtual"
studio post production facility links, and connections from studio to
headend, video server, or nationwide television networks.

Philips Corp. Venus Switching System

The Philips Venus routing system is a rack-mounted, modular
signal router designed to combine true broadcast-quality performance
with flexible packaging arrangements for a variety of video switching
applications. The Venus Routing Switching Systems accommodate matrix
sizes from 32x32 to 160x256 and delivers high quality broadcast
performance in any configuration, in any size.

Philips NetCaptain Management Control System

The Philips NetCaptain management and control system provides
centralized control for the entire network and studio infrastructure,
allows multiple simultaneous users via remote clients, reports
operational status and alarms to one unified interface, offers an easy
to use graphical report of the network operations, plus many more
features. The NetCaptain is capable of supporting various types of
applications including distributed video/audio routing and
transmission networks, business studios, transmission centers, and
CATV headends.
