OAO and JetForm Join in Strategic Relationship
-- Focuses on leveraging EC/EDI, XML and electronic forms technology to develop EDI-to-XML interoperability --
GREENBELT, MD, Oct. 5 /CNW-PRN/ - OAO Corporation and JetForm© Corporation (Nasdaq: FORM, TSE: JFM), the global leader in workflow and e-process solutions, today at the Electronic Commerce World Conference (Orlando, FL) announced a strategic business relationship to integrate OAO's electronic commerce (EC)/Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) technology and JetForm's XML-based e-process framework. This effort enables companies to provide completely automated, seamless, open standards based EDI-to-XML interoperability for e-business processes such as request for proposals, electronic purchase orders, electronic invoicing and support.
Through this partnership financial, contracting and government/military organizations will be able to present EC/EDI transactions in intelligent XML-based forms. Because XML acts as a ``front end' for the EDI technology customers can participate in all levels of e-business processes without the cost and procedure of installing and maintaining expensive leased line technology. Partners are no longer limited to those who can justify an investment in EDI technology.
The strategic teaming and development effort will create a transparent EDI bridge between OAO's EC/EDI technology, specifically Easy Mix based on the Implementation Definition (IMPDEF) message, and JetForm's e-process framework and XML Forms Architecture (XFA). This will provide a seamless interface between EDI codified standards and XML structures offering an enhanced user interface, elimination of redundant inputs and errors and a faster processing time.
OAO president, the Honorable Emmett Paige (Lt.G, Ret.), says, ``I have long been an advocate of open standards such as JetForm's XFA.' He continued, ``I recognize the great benefits that the EDI IMPDEF message brings to the easy, low cost deployment of EDI and e-commerce, and how the power of this message can provide smooth integration of traditional, standards based EDI with JetForm's product suite.' ``XML is poised to play a central role in next-generation Web-centric applications like the one we've developed with OAO,' said JetForm president John Kelly. ``Working with a leader such as OAO demonstrates our commitment to leveraging the XML standard and helps further expand our reach in to the government/military market.'
JetForm's XML Forms Architecture (XFA), the Internet's only comprehensive open standards-based forms architecture, embraces all aspects of process automation -- the capture, presentation, movement, processing and output of information. XFA extends the value of XML by providing specific functionality for form users and the applications that use and produce electronic forms.
OAO Corporation is the developer and supplier of the Easy EC/EDI Integrated Toolkit(TM) which is founded on the EDI Implementation Definition (IMPDEF) message. OAO has long been a proponent of open standards in general and EDI specifically, especially when these standards are applicable to Electronic Commerce.
OAO Corporation is a leading authority on the EDI IMPDEF message. The company has developed and is currently releasing modules of its Easy EC/EDI Integrated Toolkit(TM) which are based on the IMPDEF message. OAO's underlying technology uses the Internet and Worldwide Web (www) as transport, and provides automated, on-the-fly EDI mapping (translation). This technology drastically reduces EDI transaction set implementation and maintenance costs. Components of the Toolkit allow for embedding EDI capability throughout the business processes of an enterprise, integrating existing legacy systems through EDI, and establishing EDI-based hub-spoke business relationships based on EDI, the Toolkit quickly and inexpensively brings EDI capability to SMEs with no knowledge of EDI required. OAO's recently announced module Easy Meta-Language Implementation of XML or Easy MIX is the means to provide a consistent, predictable mechanism for expressing data relationships and initially will be used to deliver EDI information to XML.
