CheckFree Updates its Web Site to Encourage a 'Check Free' Way of Life

ATLANTA, Oct. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- CheckFree (Nasdaq: CKFR), the leader in
electronic billing and payment (EBP), announced today the launch of its
redesigned Web site at www.checkfree.com . The enhanced site provides
consumer education about EBP and the benefits of conducting financial
transactions online to customers, the media, potential clients and
shareholders.
The site provides single-click access to general information about
CheckFree, participating billers, distribution and business partners, customer
support, company news, investor relations and more. A new demonstration of
CheckFree E-Bill(SM), the nation's first fully integrated electronic billing
and payment solution is available. Visitors can also sign up to use the
service via links to their financial service provider of choice, such as
Yahoo!, Bank One, First Union and Charles Schwab.
CheckFree President and COO Pete Sinisgalli said, "We listened to a number
of audiences in developing this site. From a biller perspective, we
incorporated suggestions to develop a Web site that is as innovative as the
market space we are in. Our 'front end' distribution partners wanted
consumers to be able to link to them to enroll, and our business partners
wanted customers to know the services they provide around EBP. Above all, the
site is where consumers can learn about the freedom of paying bills online,
which benefits all of our constituents."
Home page graphics and the message "I am Check Free," reinforce the
freedom, simplicity and convenience that receiving and paying bills online can
provide. The "freedom" theme results from consumer research conducted by
CheckFree that revealed key benefits of EBP perceived by household bill
payers, as compared to traditional bill payment methods. More than 60 percent
of respondents viewed EBP as a time saver versus writing checks and found EBP
to be more convenient and easier than writing checks.
According to research published by Jupiter Communications, Americans write
nearly 68 billion checks annually. Other findings confirm that Americans
spend about two hours a month paying the more than 18 billion paper bills
mailed each year.
A distinctive home page for each of CheckFree's divisions -- Electronic
Commerce, Investment Services, Software, and Health and Fitness -- can be
accessed directly, as well as through the corporate home page.
