Another Major DiviCom Win in PRC... divi.com DiviCom® Uplink Solution Selected for New Satellite Broadcast Service in Hong Kong Another Major DiviCom Win in PRC Milpitas, Calif. - October 4, 1999 - DiviCom, a C-Cube subsidiary and the world's leading provider of open solutions for digital television, today announced the installation of its uplink solution for Hong Kong satellite service provider APT Satellite Holdings Limited (APT). The installation comes just weeks after the Hong Kong Special Administration Region granted APT a satellite television uplink and downlink license and two months after DiviCom was selected for the 70-channel digital satellite broadcast system run by the government-owned China Central Television (CCTV) network in Beijing. Using the DiviCom technology and one of its own orbiting satellites, Apstar IIR, APT will uplink digital television programming from its satellite control center in Tai Po, Hong Kong, and broadcast to the Apstar's footprint regions in the PRC and other Asia Pacific countries. The satellite television service, set to be launched in the coming months, will carry 12 television channels within the first year. "APT is a leading satellite service provider in the Asia Pacific region," DiviCom President Tom Lookabaugh said. "With its satellite control center in Tai Po and some 40 experienced satellite and communications specialists and engineers, APT is in a position to offer the highest quality services to its clients. DiviCom's open-solution concept and extensive experience in integrating a wide range of third-party equipment and system architectures gave APT the flexibility it needed to select uplink equipment before it had selected the conditional access system and set-top boxes. The installation marks DiviCom's second major win in the People's Republic of China in as many months.
