Goutama,
RE:"It seems, Athlon750 has gone through some core/layout/mask/process changes. Following
are the power ratings taken from Athlon Data Sheet from the AMD site -"
Nice find.
Looks like Intel has figured AMD would sit pat on the Athlon core...
You don't suppose they hired Yousef to tell them what AMDs next move would be do you? <G>
Per Scumbria...the Athlon core is very tweakable and VERY scalable and per my sources (and Anand) yields very well.

Goutama,

Good piece! Looks like we have a newer stepping of the Athlon with an improved BIOS to go with it. Shows some of the ways a brand new core can improve...

RE:"Now my question is, how does he know about the yields on the Athlon?"...

There are leaks, trust me...

<Max and Typical power consumption for Athlon 700MHz are lower than the 650MHz one! There is about 15% reduction in the actual power requirements of Athlon700MHz from the extrapolated values using 650MHz Athlon.>

One other observation on this power issue:

This development could help alleviate some of the motherboard problems that we have seen to date. This launch is turning out to be more pleasant than I expected!

Goutama - RE: "Athlon 700MHz showed more improvement in the 3D and Quake benchmark results from 650MHz Athlon, than the increment shown by 650MHz from 600MHz."

Which makes it all the harder for Cuontimemine to reach the AThlon's performance in these applications.
