Len,

It's definitely okay to hold my feet to the fire.

I think there are many ways to look at the subject. America was not established as a Christian nation. Many Christians believe that it was alluded to as a Christian nation, but nowhere does it say that. It was established on the principle of religious freedoms. Furthermore separation of church and State is one of the founding principles.

Isreal was established as a Jewish homeland. There was no separation of Church and State. It was done so at the expense of the Palestineans, many of which were removed at gunpoint from their homes. Of course that was wrong and unfortunate.

The bigger question is should there be a State religion anywhere in the world? I do not know the answer to that question. I guess if that country was originally founded on those principles and it wasn't at the expense of others it is okay. I wouldn't want to live there, but I guess it would be okay with me.

What do you think?

Mark
