Foresees great importance for China in entire tech sector; AMAT has been there since 1984. As semi-conductor business expands in China, company will get a significant portion of the business.

There is shortage of advanced technology for making chips, as well as lack of investment in past few years; should create demand situation. Material changes taking place in the processing of chips, and increase from 8 in. to 12 in. wafer mean bright future for company for several decades.

Company has been world leader, has broadest product line, strongest global capability. Has total solution strategy for process modules, based on customer input.

Company has upgraded equipment worldwide for Y2K; all systems are in good shape.

Going from memory there is a rumor that there is 1 production laser installed by the competition - but that hasn't been confirmed and along with that rumor was the brother rumor that the engineer that recommended the one rumored install lost his job because of it.

Needless to say the stock is acting well here - the on balance volume looks terrific and I wouldn't be surprised to see a run upward as we move towards earnings release time. It's a happy stock lookin to make a move.

The underlying fundamentals and basic conditions are fabulous.
